Mobilizing in al-Raqqa alert after two members of the Thuwwar al-Raqqa Brigade and a child shot by elements of "Asayish"

Tal Abyad roundabout in al-Raqqa city

Two members of the "Thuwwar al-Raqqa Brigade" and a 5-year-old boy were injured as a result of being shot on Tuesday afternoon in Raqqa city from elements of the Asayish forces, the security arm of the Democratic Union Party "PYD".

NSO reporter said that two fighters of the "Thuwwar al-Raqqa Brigade", of the Syrian Democratic Forces "SDF", one of them known as "Abu Hamdo", as well as the child of one of the fighters, "Hamdo", were exposed to direct shooting from the elements of the silos checkpoint of the "Asayish" at the northern entrance of Riqqa after a verbal quarrel between the two parties.

Our reporter quoted a source in "Thuwwar al-Raqqa Brigade" saying that six elements stationed at the silos barrier - one of them, Mahmoud al-Hassan - stopped the car that was carrying the fighters with the child, was a pickup, "Great Wall" brand, and asked them to show their identity cards and a proof prove that they were on mission to enter al-Raqqa, but the two elements objected to the request of the checkpoint members. They justified their objection to being known by the checkpoint. After a verbal argument, the head of the checkpoint ordered his soldiers to shoot at the vehicle, resulted in shooting one of the elements in the car from his gun, wounding two elements with the child, the child was transferred to a medical point belonging to MSF, while elements received treatment at the headquarters of "Thuwwar al-Raqqa Brigade".

The source, who met with our reporter, denied the killing of any element of the "Thuwwar al-Raqqa Brigade" as a result of the shooting, stressing that both of the injured elements are being treated now and are in stable condition.

"Asayish" forces raised the readiness of their forces inside the city of Raqqa. They also fortified the "silo checkpoint" near the incident by lifting the earth barriers in anticipation of any counter-attack by the fighters of "Thuwwar al-Raqqa Brigade", which is a partner of the "Asayish" forces of the Syrian Democratic Forces "SDF".

"Syrian Democratic Forces" excluded the "Thuwwar al-Raqqa Brigade" from the battle to control the city of al-Raqqa launched on June 6, 2017, and ended on October 20 of the same year.

The lawyer Mahmoud al-Hadi, a spokesman for the "Thuwwar al-Raqqa Brigade", said in an earlier statement to NSO that the leadership of "SDF" prevented the "brigade" from participating in the battle to control the city of Raqqa, by blocking weapons and training, and prevent them from moving out of its areas in the far north of al-Raqqa countryside, deliberately in order to keep them away from his popular incubator in al-Raqqa so as not to increase the number of elements and impose itself as a force on the ground.

"Thuwwar al-Raqqa Brigade" is located in the city of al-Rigga in two points, one of which is located in the Directorate of Military Construction next to the headquarters of the former 17th Brigade and is currently known as the Military Council. The second point is about five kilometers from the first point in al-Ghaba area, the former stronghold of the brigade before "ISIS" controlled the city in January 2014.
