Assad forces capture Raqqa-Damascus route

On Friday night, Assad forces captured Raqqa-Damascus highway in the Syrian Desert in Tabqa southern countryside after clashes with ISIS who retreated under Russian airstrikes.

NSO reporter in Raqqa countryside said Assad forces captured the international highway “Damascus-Raqqa” south Tabqa in addition to Wadi Abu Sanabel and Jeb al-Hejlan villages.

Reporter added that clashes still ongoing until Saturday between ISIS and Assad forces in al-Rasafe crossing south west Raqqa city where this area considered Raqqa entrance from Damascus.

Regime forces entered Raqqa provincial borders years after being kicked out by ISIS, and was able to capture “Debsi Faraj,Debsi Afnan,Shouaib al-Zaker” villages west Tabqa city.
