On Tuesday, “Democratic Union Party PYD” gunmen told shopkeepers and workshops in Efrin city in Aleppo northern countryside to close their shops on Saturday during 17km march was called by the party in solidarity with PKK leader imprisoned in Turkish Imrali Island.
NSO reporter in Efrin said a car with speakers roomed Efrin city and called civilians to participate in the march which will start at 8am on Saturday from Efrin city toward Mabatly area walking for 17km.
Reporter added that PYD gunmen told the workshops and shopkeepers to close their shops, threatens who refuse to do so of being arrested, which pushed majority of shops to open on Friday to compensate lose on Saturday although Friday is a weekend where they close their shops.
Owner of a manufacture workshop in Efrin (prefer to stay anonymous for security reasons) told NSO reporter: he received the order to close his shop on Tuesday and he must follow orders to avoid being arrested but he had to open on Friday to avoid lose for closing on Saturday and closing for 2 days.
The owner added that the pressure on the Turkish government to release Ocalan should be from inside Turkey by PKK supporters not here in Efrin.
Cellphone shop owner in Efrin who also prefer to stay anonymous told NSO reporter: weekend days refused by PYD have become much more than other areas and we can’t refuse because they will arrest us.
The man added: lately there were protests against Turkish bombardment on Efrin and a lot of people participated because they wanted the shelling to stop but protests for releasing Ocalan is a time-waste and an effort from the party to force his authority on the people.
“Kurdistan Worker’s Party PKK” leader Abdullah Ocalan have been in jail for more than 18 years, the Syrian wing have been calling up for solidarity events with the party’s leader and they force civilians to participate sometimes.
